The Comanche Business Committee met in its regularly scheduled meeting on Saturday, October 3, 2009. Fifteen new members were approved by resolution. A resolution to support the Harjo v Pro Football, Inc. letter was approved. The letter in essence asks that those NFL team names that are derogatory to Native Americans be withdrawn from use. The Trasportation Policies and Procedures as they affect the use of the Comanche bus was passed. The policy covers the rental and use of the bus, conduct on the bus among other issues. The Comanche Nation's membership in NCAI was approved and the establishment of an Office of Compliance and Development was also approved. This office will begin with three staff: a planner, a budget analyst and a facilitator. The Gaming Board of Directors' and the Gaming Commission's budget was passed with one dissenting vote. Ms. Delphine Nelson reported briefly on the success of the Comanche Nation Fair this year. There wre approximately 90,000 visitors over the three day fair, with about 500 campers. Ms. Nelson reported that the Fair is quickly outgrowing the area around the complex and parking was difficult. The CBC discussed several alternative sites for the fair. Before the CBC went into Executive Session Mr. Thomas Narcomey informed the participants that he has a petition going around calling for a Special General Council meeting. The proposed agenda for that meeting covers 10 items from a forensic audit of the Housing Improvement Program (HIP) to a feasibility study to build a Comanche Hospital by bond financing. SEE AGENDA |
